Sagyngali Kaliev
Teacher of History, Head of the Humanities Department, Galaxy International School, Kazakhstan
He graduated from the Makhambet Utemisov West Kazakhstan State University in 2011 with honors majoring in history.
Sagyngali was a participant of the Professional Development Program (PDP) at the Nazarbayev University in 2011–2012 and obtained his master’s degree in international relations from the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University after a course of study in 2014–2016.
Mr. Kaliev was a teacher of history (2012–2019), an extended essay coordinator (2014–2017) and the head of the Humanities Department at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Astana (2017–2019). He was a teacher of the “history” and “human and society” subjects at the Kang Chiao International School East China in Shanghai (PRC) in 2019–2020. Sagyngali has been a teacher of history and the head of the Humanities Department at the Galaxy International School in Astana since August 2020 until now.
He was honored with a letter of thanks from parents of pupils of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Astana in 2015, letters of thanks from principals of the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools in Astana in 2015 and 2017, a letter of thanks from the dean of the Graduate School of Education at the Nazarbayev University in 2017 and a letter of thanks from chairmen of Jiangsu Province MYP Network (PRC) in 2019. In 2016, Sagyngali was placed into the “expert teacher” category.
He authored world history textbooks for grades 9 and 10 for the Nazarbayev Intellectual School publishing house. Mr. Kaliev has been an examiner of international educational systems of the International Baccalaureate Organization since 2015 and of Cambridge International Examinations — A-Levels since 2021.
He attended workshops in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Germany, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the People’s Republic of China. Sagyngali participated in the IB international conference in Italy. He was a speaker at international conferences in Russia and the Netherlands. He participated in the “100 experts” program of the Nazarbayev University in 2017.
Mr. Kaliev is the winner of the Digital Ustaz Almaty 2021 competition.
