In 1988, he graduated from the Military Red Banner Institute of the USSR Ministry of Defense with a degree in interpreting, in 2010 graduated from the National Research University – Higher School of Economics (ЕМВА).
After graduation, he was assigned to North Africa and later to Central Asia.
In 1992–2001 – journalist and editor for Kommersant and Expert daily magazines.
In 2001–2007 – vice-president at JSCB Evrofinance.
In 2007–2011 – CEO at CJSC Kommersant Holding.
In that period, the Kommersant FM radio station and Kommersant TV channel started broadcasting within the holding group.
2016–2018 – counselor to the Chairman of the Foundation's Board of the Center for Strategic Research.
Author of more than 300 publications on economic and political issues.
Acknowledged by the President of Russia “For a great contribution to drawing up the development strategy of the Russian Federation for 2018–2024”.
