Tunç Ulu

Throughout the course of his education, Tunc Ulu had many achievements such as 4th seed in Anadolu High School Exam, 54th seed in OSS, and 44th seed in OYS Turkey as he graduated from German High School and later completed his bachelors degree in management in Bogazici University. As he started his career in the sales and marketing departments of global firms, he discovered his passion for teaching and decided to enroll in Yeditepe University where he finished his degree in mathematics teaching with honors.

Alongside teaching middle school mathematics with an intense schedule for the last 15 years, he has also been a pioneer in integrating modern technology devices and innovations to education. After a long and meticulous journey, Tunc Ulu led the way to design an education system based on Technological Smartboards and iPads in 2008 inside the Erkan Ulu Education Center where he continues his work on new projects bringing new innovations to the education sector and teaching mathematics.

Under the leadership of Tunc Ulu, Erkan Ulu Schools became the first school to switch to the distance learning model and provide online classes to all grades and in all branches successfully during the start of the pandemic in March 16th 2020, thanks to the successful prep work done throughout the week of March 9th 2020.

As one of the founders of the school himself, Tunc Ulu pioneered to make Erkan Ulu Schools the first school to use its own application and to use iPads in classes since 2011 as the Technology Director. About the process being recognized as an Apple Distinguished School in 2021, Tunc Ulu comments:

We are proud to announce that the iOS experience that has been the foundation of our system can now be referred with the ADS title.

This title also represent the proactive perspective we hold as an entity. We are able to provide our students with equal access thanks to the technology that allows the teachers to transfer the material directly to the students’ iPads without the need of a smart board. This way, we can continue our classes not only inside the classroom but also outdoors as well. With the pandemic we saw once again how valuable the steps we took 12 years ago are and what this foundation means to us today.

The selection of the Erkan Ulu Schools as an Apple Distinguished School emphasizes our success on being an organization that has academically proven itself, while at the same time attracting students’ attention for creating a teaching environment that is innovative and exciting.
