Sayasat Nurbek

Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan

Born on May 18, 1981 in Semey.

He graduated from Marshalltown College (USA) with a degree in political science, the L. N. Gumilev Eurasian National University with a degree in international law as well as La Sapienza University in Rome, Italy, with a Master's degree in Geopolitics and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Kokshe Academy.

He has had internships and refresher courses in the US, Singapore, Belgium, Japan, and the Netherlands.

In 2000–2001, worked as an assistant to Congressman Mark Smith in the Government of the State of Iowa (USA).

In 2002–2004, actively participated in realization of youth policy in Kazakhstan.

In 2006–2009, he worked in the sphere of investment projects in JSC "Sustainable Development Fund Kazyna" and was the Head of sector of personnel policy in the administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Vice-Rector for international cooperation and science in the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Director of Department, Executive Director for personnel policy and personnel management of JSC "NWF Samruk-Kazyna".

In 2009–2010, worked as Director of the National School of Public Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From 2010 to September 2013, he was the President of the Center for International Programs, a subordinate organization of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2013–2015, he was the Director of the Institute of Public Policy of the Nur Otan party.

In 2015–2016, he was the Acting Head of the Internal Policy Department of Almaty Akimat.

In 2016–2017, he was the Managing Director, a member of the Board of the International Financial Center "Astana".

In 2018–2022, he worked as the head of educational projects of BTS-Digital, General Director of BTS-Education, head of the project "Atlas of New Professions of Kazakhstan".

From February 2022 to June 2022, he was Deputy of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From June 11, 2022, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Sayasat Nurbek is the Goodwill Ambassador of National Geographic Kazakhstan, member of the National Council of Public Trust.

He has been awarded the state awards of the Republic of Kazakhstan: the Order of Kurmet, the medal "For Labor Excellence" (Yeren eenbegi ushin), a medal "20 Years of the Capital of Kazakhstan", a medal for the 20th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and a commemorative medal for the 15th anniversary of the Faculty of Law of the Eurasian National University named after L.N.Gumilev. He was awarded by L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, by anniversary medal for the 20th anniversary of "Kurmet Belarus" of Kazakh Humanitarian-Legal University.

Holds letters of thanks from the President of Kazakhstan, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, First Deputy Chairman of Nur Otan party, Secretary of Education and Cultural Relations of the USA.

Speaks Kazakh, Russian, English, Turkish, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, and Latin.

Married, has three children.
