Igor Shiyan

Main areas of research: adult development and assessment of the quality of education.

Igor Shiyan is one of the main initiators of the publication and use of the ECERS-R, ECERS-3, ECERS-E, SSTEW, and MOVERS scales in Russia.

He led the 2016–2017 National Survey of Preschool Education Quality (NIKO) in Russia, which used the ECERS-R tool; 1,400 kindergartens from 72 regions of Russia participated in the study.

National coordinator of the international study "Parents' and teachers' perceptions of quality criteria for preschool education" initiated by Pädquis Stiftung, Berlin, Germany; Austria, Chile, China, Denmark, Ukraine, Norway, Russia, and Vietnam took part in the study.

In 2018–2022, participated in World Bank projects on research on the quality of pre-school education and dissemination of master's programs on education quality assessment in Europe and Central Asia.

Took part in Erasmus+ projects "Mobility of students and teachers in higher education" (University of Gothenburg and MGPU, 2016–2018), in "Support" (Ireland, Austria, Russia took part in the project, 2019–2022).

Editor-in-chief of scales "Assessment of conditions for supporting creative abilities", "Assessment of conditions for supporting children's play", "Assessment of conditions for supporting emotional intelligence", "Assessment of conditions for supporting children's initiative" (supplements to ECERS-3 scales).
